My bulbs keep blowing
There are a couple of questions you need to ask
- Is the light controlled by a dimmer switch? Older dimmer switches are not usually LED friendly so new LED bulbs will either start misbehaving or popping. ANSWER – You will need to upgrade your dimmer switch. There are a wide variety on the market to suit all tastes. Checked Electric will be happy to offer you a competitive quote!
- If your trouble lighting is controlled by a dimmer switch, are the bulbs dimmable? Unfortunately the cheaper bulbs are not usually dimmable and will break quickly if you try to dim them. ANSWER – You need new bulbs, check the packaging carefully to make sure they are dimmable
- Does the bulb wattage exceed the maximum permitterd wattage of the light? Manufactureres usually put a limit on the bulb’s wattage, usually to stop the light from overheating. If you have been using too bright a bulb, this could have had an adverse effect on your light. ANSWER – Stick to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- If your bulbs keep blowing, it’s time to get an electrician in. At Checked Electric we do not do call out charges and will agree a price before any work is carried out.
